Friendsgiving

Friends are family that you find along the path of life.

And let me tell ya’ll, I have been blessed to have found a whole lot of them!

About a month ago, we decided to host Friendsgiving this year in our home. We wanted to do something to celebrate the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, but also to celebrate the tribe of friends we are so incredibly lucky to have. We supplied the deep fried turkeys, which trust me, was an event in and of itself. In case you don’t know, a turkey must be COMPLETELY thawed in order to deep fry it. Now don’t worry, nothing blew up (which would have been pretty appropriate for us) but we were down to the wire getting those birds thawed out! Then everyone else brought sides and desserts and their drink of choice.

For those who didn’t bring something to drink (and even for those who did 😜) I grabbed a few bottles of wine from our local Old Millington Winery. Right down the road, we have a little winery hidden away on a winding back road; a little gem in our community. I added bottles of their Holiday Plum wine to the tables for everyone to enjoy! I really wanted to have a formal, sit down dinner and the tablescape kind of designed itself. I started with my new, beautiful place settings from the David Tutera line that I picked up for a steal from Wayfair.com. The scalloped shape and subtle distressing on the edges are everything! I began the base of the table with a run of butcher paper to add texture, also making for easy clean up! Then, I added some fresh greenery. I simply walked outside to my Evergreen and Magnolia trees and “borrowed” a few of their branches. I used these to adorn the center of the table as well as the chandelier. Now, these particular types of foliage can transition beautifully into Christmas as well, but I added some wheat to the arrangement to give it that subtle Fall feeling. Finally, I nestled a few little white pumpkins among the leaves.

To continue with the neutral feel of the table, I added black and white Buffalo check napkins and vintage brass candlesticks. Because who doesn’t love golds and greens?! The napkins were simply pieces of fabric that I had cut in the fabric department. Often times, when I have something in my head, and I cannot seem to find exactly what I am looking for, I have to make it. Which is perfectly alright with me because, although it may take a little extra effort on the front end, it often saves me money in the long run.

I topped off each place setting with an absolutely BEAUTIFUL (as always) cookie by the crazy talented Amanda at Semi Sweet Confections. These sweet white pumpkins were the perfect “cherry on top” for each plate. I mean, that gold detail and how flawless each name has been done! We had 22 of our closest friends and family all gathered in one room, sharing a meal and sharing love and laughter. We finished up the night with a few games of Cornhole and Drunk Frisbee and even more laughter. We had such an amazing night and I have a feeling very well may become an Annual event! ❤️
